What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. When you google a word or phrase, search engines comb the internet and come up with a list of millions of links for you to follow. Search Engine Optimisation is the name given to activity that attempts to make search engines notice your website more easily, so that it comes up high on the list of search results, or in other words is indexed or ranked higher. SEO will also increase the quality of websites by making them more user-friendly, faster and easier to navigate.
Why is SEO important?
More visitors to your website will hopefully result in more customers! SEO focuses on ensuring that content is interesting to engage potential clients, and on structuring your website in an interesting way with certain formats, in order to make your website ‘speak’ to search engines and people. The higher your website is indexed with search engines, the more likely people will visit your site. The more visitors you get, the higher your site will rank, so SEO when done well, results in a happy cycle of higher and higher rankings and more and more visitors.
What will Forward Designs do for me?
The longer your website has been live, the more statistics about your visitors we can access to work on SEO. However, the process is largely the same even for new websites. We will look at your content structure and adjust it to make it search engine friendly. This involves picking the right keywords for your website and using various SEO tools to get you better indexed with the search engines. This can involve some re-writing and re-arranging of your text content; we will ensure that you are happy with any changes we make.
Can I expect immediate results?
SEO is a process that takes time. There are many variables that can change things. For example whether your website is responsive (mobile friendly), and how fast your website loads are factors that will affect your SEO results. Most importantly, the number of visitors to your website will improve your ranking. We will do our best (at an excellent price) to set you up for success by optimising your content as described above. However, since this is an ongoing process, you may wish to purchase an ongoing SEO service package after the initial SEO setup.
IMPORTANT: Please note that we cannot guarantee high search engine rankings, and most small businesses will not come up high. So why bother? What we will do is make websites SEO friendly, so that they have a firm basis from which to go on to be well indexed by Google. We cannot control the number of visitors to your site, which is a major factor in high rankings (search engines assume that a well-visited site is interesting).
